ABOUT US

How We Got Started

In 2001 PCS, a Ventura County-based private company formed to meet the increasing needs of individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, mental health diagnoses, and/or medical fragilities. Originally launched as part of the Community Placement Program (CPP), a program designed to assist individuals living in State hospitals to move into the least restrictive setting possible with appropriate supports in place. In doing so we have proudly been able to support dozens of individuals to move from developmental centers and other restrictive living environments into inclusive living arrangements as valued members of our community.

Where We Are Now

PCS has since expanded to meet the needs of all community members living with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We offer a wide variety of services throughout the State of California. Led by a set of values-based principles called The PCS Way, we have taken a person-centered approach to service delivery. We are proud to have improved the quality of life of thousands of individuals since founded in 2001.

Person Centered Thinking

At PCS we follow the Person Centered Thinking (PCT) approach to service delivery. This is a practice of defining a meaningful life centered around an individual's hopes, dreams, and capabilities. The Person Centered Thinking plan values the input of the person served first. Trusted People in that person's life are invited to contribute to the overall plan and desired outcomes.
